“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.”
(Ephesians 6:1)
Dearly beloved in Christ,
My loving greeting to you in the sweet name of the Lord Jesus Christ!
My son was interested in fish farming, breeding and rearing ornamental fish in small tanks at home. In his school days he was spending a lot of time over it at the time of examinations. He had a number of tanks at home for about 400 fish. He used to clean those glass tanks and feed those fishes. My wife asked him to study for the examination and to take care of them after the examination days. He was tensed and exhibited his anger, but continued to do the same thing. On returning home from my trip, I asked him to tend them during the holidays and to concentrate on his studies. I questioned him why he was wasting his time in it during examination time. He did not seem to listen to me but continued his work. Those fishes were bought with the money he had saved. I also left him to do as he desired and continued to do my other work.
The next day he came to me with a heavy heart and asked me whether I made any prayers regarding the fish. I said, ‘No.’ Then he told me that all of those fishes had died in one night and were floating. I told him that the Lord has pity on people, but He is also righteous. I asked him to commit to live with the fear of the Lord as He sees him always. The Lord would then protect him from all evil.
O my dear young/ Brother/ Sister, why do defeats stare at you or evil befall you? Take time to examine your defeats. When you keep trespassing and do not listen to reproof, the hand of the Lord would definitely work against you. You would have to meet with defeats and tears, and evil would confront you. Not only does it happen to you, but also to others at home.
Dear child of God, make use of the gracious time given to you in your youth. Do not spend your time in vain things like your mobile or video games or any other sinful habits. Fear the Lord and do things. The Lord listens to every word that we utter. He lives. When you look up to Him for help, He will send help to you. No evil will befall you. He will bless you in all that you do, in your going out and coming in.
May the Lord bless us!
